On Sept 5th,
the Wyoming Blues and Jazz Society lost a good friend. Those of us who were privileged to know and spend time with Ray Patterson have been enriched by his life and friendship. Those of you who didn’t know Ray have lost even more for never having met him. Ray was a multi-faceted individual with a wide variety of interests. Ray was a musician, and influence, and a friend to the WB &JS and to each of us individually. This is how we knew him best. Ray loved live music and did whatever he could to encourage it in Casper. He worked for many years to ensure the success of our monthly jams. Constantly encouraging other musicians to participate and push beyond their comfort zone. Ray also contributed time and equipment to other venues around town to draw in more diverse genres of music and musicians, introducing people to one another to expand the circle and enlarge the network of musically inclined individuals who otherwise would have never met. Goodbye Ray, we miss you. |
